A Visual Story: Cocktail Omakase

Hidden away on a quiet side street in Azabu-Juban, nestled in between Tokyo Tower and Roppongi, Bar Gen Yamamoto is a one-of-a-kind Tokyo experience. A small bar with eight seats only (reservations are a must), you are offered a seasonal menu of miniature cocktails, all crafted using a blend of seasonal, local ingredients and the finest liquours. The flavour is at the centre of everything that’s created. The cocktail-making process is a show in itself, but not in a cliché, over-the-top-shaking-the-cocktail-shaker-aggressively-way, instead it’s an opportunity for you to admire the respect Gen Yamamoto shows for the ingredients he uses and the bartending craft itself.

You can choose from a tasting session of four, five, six or seven cocktails – and the menu changes daily, even from guest to guest. If you (like us) are an avid glassware admirer/collector, you’ll also adore the collection of mini glasses in all sorts of hues that line the walls of this tiny bar.
